“It is massively important that I have that flexibility, it enables me to be here for my son and bring value to my role. It makes the job work for me.”
Kirsty loves the variety of her dream role
Kirsty Sanderson made a career change to achieve her long-held ambition of working in HR.
She spent many years as a PA at the family-run manufacturer of cleaning and hygiene products, Evans Vanodine.
Kirsty said: “I enjoyed my previous role but HR was always the path to take for me. I think it can offer such a dynamic and rewarding career path with endless opportunities to contribute to shaping the direction and success of a business.
“It’s a role I really enjoy, it’s so varied and I can have an impact in many different areas. I might be working on employee relations and culture change one day and developing new policy the next.”
While working as a PA, Kirsty studied for a Level 3 HR diploma in her own time, which enabled her to land her first role in the HR department. Kirsty has continued to achieve professional qualifications, which have been the bedrock of her career progression.
As a working mum, Kirsty relies on flexible working policies at the company, which means she can finish work early twice a week while she does the school run. The company also offers compressed hours and some working from home.
